I am a total podcast person. I don't really know what the initial draw is for me, but I listen to two or three a DAY. The podcast that I look for and listen to on a regular basis vary a lot depending on the season that I am in. I love sermons, podcasts about health and nutrition, commentaries on the latest Bachelorette episode, podcasts director towards young women and young people in general, podcasts run by public relations professionals, news updates, mental health, enneagram, reading podcasts, YOU NAME IT. Here are some of the best things I found and listened to this past month.
That Sounds Fun: Episode 91: Steffany Gretzinger- https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/episode-91-steffany-gretzinger/id944925529?i=1000416636978&mt=2
"That Sounds Fun" is hosted by the hilarious and warm Annie F. Downs. I was first exposed to Annie through a friend who worked as one of her assistants during a summer break in college. You might know Annie from one of her many books she has written for young Christian women. Annie is an enneagram 7 so naturally, she makes everything upbeat, fun and colorful. This episode in particular MADE MY DAY! Steffany Gretzinger is a hero of mine and this interview with her is pure gold.
The Better Part Podcast: Episode 8: Bailey Thompson- https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/ep-008-choosing-community-over-isolation-bailey-thompson/id1403238614?i=1000416203789&mt=2
The Better Part Podcast was started, and is co-hosted, by one of my friends from college. Co-hosts Rebekah and Claira discuss a range of topics and interview a whole slew of amazing young women in hopes to start conversation that is honest, accepting and graceful. Their mission is to end striving and instead choose the "better part" by sitting at the feet of Jesus. In this episode, they interview MY BEST FRIEND Bailey. Bails is the bomb and lives out every word that she spits on this episode. It's worth a listen.
Hillsong Creative Podcast: Episode 6 + 7: Case Langton- https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/006-cass-langton-part-1-global-creative-pastor-creativity/id1345235663?i=1000405902629&mt=2 (Part 1) https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/007-cass-langton-part-2-global-creative-pastor-leading/id1345235663?i=1000406772661&mt=2 (Part 2)
Lets just admit it. Hillsong does everything the best. Maybe "best" is subjective, but I really do admire and am so inspired by the way they lead the Christina community and world by their creativity, dedication to excelled and glorifying God through as many avenues as possible. This interview is with Cass Langton who works as the Global Creative Pastor. Basically she runs everything and leads teams of people that make really amazing stuff. This episode was so inspiring and her STORY is the best part.
Okay, this one is a little bit nerdy. I got my degree from Oral Roberts University (WHOO HOO) in Public Relations. I love communication, story telling, branding, representing and making things beautiful. If you majored in PR, work in PR, work in communications or just like that sort of thing- give this a shot! Its upbeat, super informational and will feed your girl boss nerdy side.
Jonathan David & Melissa Helser: Cultivating Creativity: Melissa Helser- https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/cultivating-creativity/id370241266?i=1000413802104&mt=2
Melissa Helser is one of my hereos. From the way she leads worship, to the way she teaches, to the way I watch her through social media with her husband and children- she is someone who has set me free a little to be more myself. On top of a very successful worship leadership career and being a member of the Bethel Collective- Melissa Helser, along with her husband, teach a creative school in the woods of North Carolina. Their teachings are centered on finding your identity rooted in the love of God and letting all art and life flow from that place. This is an episode I have listened to MULTIPLE time just this month. Take notes, it's life changing.
The Ben & Ashley Almost Famous Podcast: Season 6 Episode 7- https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/s6-e7-hometown-dates/id1238355247?i=1000415986114&mt=2
Okay, this one is a vulnerable one because it can go two ways. I unashamedly watch the Bachelorette. I won't stand on a soapbox and tell you why its not trash tv (at least not yet) but I do think its entertaining and a fun things to do sitting around with your girlfriends and a bottle of wine. That being said- I don't really just "like" things. When I'm into something...... I'M INTO SOMETHING. So, here is a Bach nation commentary podcast for ya! Ben Higgins and Ashley I. From previous Bachelor seasons talk about each episode, whats going on in bachelor nation and even bring on cast members for interviews. Its funny, light hearted and something I like to listen to while cooking in the kitchen.
Fun Therapy: Episode 8: Annie F. Downs- https://relevantmagazine.com/feed/podcast/fun-therapy
You have already seen her name on this once before, but in this episode Annie is the one being interviewed. Fun Therapy features a different influencer each time and records an actual therapy session with them. Its emotional, insightful, makes you feel really close to celebrities and really pokes at some of your own un-dealt with crap. Don't listen to this one in the car. Its a rollercoaster!
Often Ambitious: Episode 5: Open Letter to Women: How to Find Friends Again- http://feeds.soundcloud.com/users/soundcloud:users:426433815/sounds.rss
These two girls are tearing up the internet right now. Between their well established solo careers and them coming together to run a business and create a bad ass boss lady business podcast- they're killing it. This episode takes a different approach, however as they talk about their struggles of being strong women trying to make connections with other women. They talk about feeling isolated, often being experienced as intimating and how girls can be really mean. This was a comforting and empowering one for sure!
And there you go! Plug in your air pods and enjoy :) I will try to have more next month. XOXO
